All About Me
|
I was born in Charleston, West Virginia, the third of six children. In 1966 my parents relocated our family to the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area where I lived until 1976. I then left to attend college at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After graduation from ORU with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, I returned to Florida where I met and married an incredible man from Italy, Saverio (Sam) Moccia. We just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary.
Sam and I have been blessed with three daughters, Constance, Joanna, and Rebecca. Constance is married to Daniel Martin-Meana and lives in St. Augustine, Florida, Joanna is married to John Kerr and lives in Hollywood, Florida, and Rebecca lives in West Palm Beach, Florida. I have a brother in Louisville, Kentucky, a sister in Orlando, Florida, and a sister in Davie, Florida. Two of my sisters have passed away of cancer.
My lifelong dream was always to teach in Christian education and so in 1992, after my daughters were all in school, I began my teaching career. I taught two years in Pre-kindergarten, one year in kindergarten, and twelve years in first grade, all in Christian education in the Ft. Lauderdale area. In 2007, my husband and I felt a calling to move to the Aiken area to help my parents. I began teaching first grade at Westminster Schools of Augusta where I have taught for the last ten years. Recently, I felt the Lord's urging again and applied to Mead Hall Episcopal School. I am thrilled to be a part of this talented faculty!
My husband, my mother and I live in North Augusta. My father is now deceased. We attend Living Hope Fellowship in Aiken. I enjoy reading, love the beach, and am an avid Miami Dolphins fan (Go Fins!), and most importantly, love Jesus with my whole heart. Teaching is my ministry, helping children to grow not only academically but spiritually as well is my passion.
